چکیده
Costa Rica comprises approximately 6% of the world’s biodiversity. Among these lush ecosystems, wetlands are represented in mangrove forests near sea, along river lowlands, sedimentary and volcanic mountains, highland páramo landscapes. In 2018, Ministry Environment Energy (MINAE), through National System Conservation Areas (SINAC), United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Global Facility (GEF) carried out new Wetlands Inventory (NWI) which identified 10,699 wetland polygons. This assessment collected key information such as location, characteristics wetland, land use vicinity, threats, other generalities. Based on valuable results, we propose a Vulnerability Index composed Condition Hazard to determine different vulnerability conditions each unit. Our findings provide better comprehension status with an environmental geography perspective. Located climate change hotspot, Rica’s conservation policies actions should consider how manage most vulnerable at scales. methodology can improve generate regional national inventories basis for evidence-based decision making latitudes.

متن کاملPanbiogeographical analysis of Costa Rican freshwater fishes.
Track analysis and Parsimony analysis of endemicity (PAE) were performed to analyze the distribution pattern of Costa Rican freshwater fishes. A basic matrix (presence/absence) was prepared using the distribution of 77 freshwater fish. The data were analyzed with CLIQUE software in order to find generalized tracks (cliques). Data also were analyzed with the software NONA and Winclada version 1....
متن کاملDeforestation Spillovers from Costa Rican Protected Areas
Resumen Spillovers can significantly reduce or enhance the effects of land-use policies, yet there exists little rigorous evidence concerning their magnitudes. We examine how national parks within Costa Rica affect the clearing of forest nearby. We find that average deforestation spillover impacts are not significant within 0-5km and 5-10km rings around parks. However, we argue that this averag...
